Student Legal Service

#What we do?

All students currently enrolled at UTS have access to free legal advice.

Legal advice is provided on a range of matters including tenancy, employment, traffic and criminal offences, civil matters, consumer claims, debts, family issues, business, and many other areas. The Student Legal Service can also certify documents as true copies, and witness statutory declarations and other formal documents.

The service is run by a solicitor who is assisted by two trainee lawyers. All legal advice is provided by the solicitor and all matters are dealt with in strict confidence.

The UTS Student Legal Service will be closed from 2pm on 24 December, 2020, and will reopen (operating remotely) on Monday, 18 January, 2021. From 2 February 2021 our office on Campus will reopen. Please email us for legal help or advice, or to make an appointment. We will respond to you after 18 January 2021.

If, while we are closed, you have an urgent legal problem please contact Redfern Legal Centreon 029698 7277, or visit their web site www.rlc.org.au.

If you have an urgent tenancy matter please contact Redfern Legal Centre’s Tenants Advisory Service on 029698 5975, and if you are an overseas student and have a visa issue please contact Redfern Legal Centre’s international students advice line on 029698 7645.

If you have an employment matter please contact the Fair Work Ombudsman
